It was another day. Another normal day, with hardly anything out of the ordinary. White seagulls wheeled in the air, sending out they're shrill and ear piercing cries, they're angular bodies and wings forming the shape of a boomerang, just as all its fellow seagulls did. And who would be so bored as to be observing this, you ask? Who else but Kai?
"Another boring day..." She muttered under her breath, kicking the skeleton of a fish off the side of a worn out dock. The now brownish skeleton of the fish fell desolately into the cool blue waters, bubbles floating up after it's entrance. Kai snarled, wondering what the heck was taking so long to restock. Sure, if she wanted it to get done, she'd be getting some supplies as well. But what kind of lazy teenager would she be if she actually put effort into something? Not much of a teenager, as it is well agreed by fellow teenagers.
Most would put up the old argument of 'your nineteen, an adult!' Nooope. As it is well known by most, you pretty much remain in the, quote unquote, stage of teenagerlyness until the ripe old age of 22 or so. And in some cases you continue to act like a lazy teenager the rest of your life. Chances were high that Kai was one of these people.
If she were actually paying attention, she would see a clear blue sky above, with a golden sun casting rich light onto most everything it could. Which was why Kai was now hiding in the shade of a sail, looking rather irritable. As for the ocean waves, it mimicked the skies above other than the occasional interruption of a white crest, or a murky looking color that signified an undertoe. The sands on the beach were like a single entity of soft gold, similar to that of the sun. As the waves lapped up onto the shore, they lost they're blue luster and became a transparent color, foam lining the edge of the wave.
Of course, Kai didn't notice any of this. She was to busy muttering to herself. "Da** sun... so bright and hot... our boat's gonna be all hot and stuffy tonight, and I'll probably get seasick again... I've been lucky not to upchuck more than once this entire time. At least I get used to it quicker than some..." She continued grumbling to herself, subconsciously digging her hand into a pocket and looking for the package of infamous ginger, which actually cured seasickness to a reasonable degree. "Where the he** is our crew?" As were all pirates, she had pretty nasty language sometimes, though normally refrained from it. But seeing as she didn't deal very well with heat, she wasn't keeping very good tabs on it at the moment.

bic: A small brown sack was tossed a foot into the air before falling back down into an outstretched hand. It jingled, indicating that is was obviously containing some sort of coinage. Boots thumped against the dock as a figure began to walk towards the girl. The bag was tossed up and down repeatedly, almost in rhythm with steps. They stopped when the person stood about a meter behind Kai. A woman stood there, and by the looks of it, was around twenty years old. She wore a tight, light pinkish dress, despite the fact that she truly despised the color. It was sleeveless, with the bottom reaching a little below her knees, tying up at the top center with strings. Below this was a white, long sleeved shirt, the edges ruffled, the garment looking a size too big for her. Around her stomach, above the dress, a fishnet wound itself around her, tying up in the back, and pulled tight in attempt to make herself look thinner. She wore large black boots laced all the way to the top, that reached almost to where the bottom of the dress fell, with, once again, more fishnet where the gap was. Her hair was black and wavy, though messy and sticking out in many areas, thanks to the wind. Fierce green eyes narrowed, and she shifted, looking most uncomfortable. "Well, Kai..." she said suddenly, "I think I'm done having my fun at this little village. I hope you made sure the boat is completely restocked, while I've been gone." By fun, Nira meant that she had charmed various men in the village, drugged them, then stole all their valuables. Anyone who had been on her crew long enough knew what she was talking about without her even having to explain. She smiled wickedly, because she knew that Kai had most likely been her usual lazy self, and had not made sure the work was completed, or helped much. She began to tap the toe of her right boot, eying the money she had obtained, calmly. Now why hadn't Nira made sure everything was completed? One, because she was off collecting loot, and two, because she was captain, and could pretty much do whatever she wanted without anyone saying anything about it. Unless, of course, they wanted to experience the wrath of the hot-tempered girl.

When Kai had first been assigned as Nira's crew, she had jumped every time Nira had made an appearance and scuttled behind the nearest buff looking man. She had no idea what Nira's idea of 'fun' was, nor the true essence of being a pirate. As the years went by ((ok, only like two but whatever)), she learned what it was like to be a pirate, and enjoyed it. So she stayed with the trade.
But that's getting off the point. Kai had grown so used to Nira's attitude and way of living, that she didn't jump when Nira walked up in an almost intimidating fashion. Nor did she recoil at the inquiry of whether or not she got the ship ready. "Eh, either way I'm sure the crew's so freaked out you'll beat 'em that they probably finished an hour or so ago." She was still sitting in the shade, though hauled herself to her feet, wobbled a bit ((from standing up to quickly)), and then regained herself. "Anyhow, did you get any good loot, or the usual?"
She shook her brown orange hair out of her eyes, almost glaring at it. She regretted cutting it with her dagger now, seeing as she was shaking and blowing it out of her face almost constantly, unless she was fortunate enough to be facing the wind. She was wearing that trench coat she seemed to have a habit of wearing, despite the heat. She looked off to the right where Nira's boat lay in wait, people crawling all over it and yelling orders at each other now that Nira had made her appearance.

Nira seemed to ignore the first comment, though looked almost pleased at the fact the everyone was terrified of her. As Kai asked her the question, she paused a moment in thought. She gripped the sack in her fist, then flipped her wrist, dangling it by the two drawstrings, each with beads on the end. "You want to know what I've gathered, eh?" she asked, smirking, waving the bag back and forth twice on the strings. She jerked it up to snatch it with her hand, and her taunting smile grew. For a moment, she considered leaving it a mystery to the girl--it was always fun to torture people this way. Though, on the other hand, nothing had seemed too special about the things she had gathered up. In fact, the most interesting thing she had snatched had been a simple silver chained necklace with a peculiar wooden charm. She only had glanced over the things she had gathered, once. She supposed she might as well tell Kai what she found, considering she was one of the more trusted crew members. She was lazy, but at least seemed to have some form of a brain compared to most of the men on her crew; all brawns, absolutely no brain at all. "Nothing too interesting." she said flatly, "A few small bags of gold coins, and a few small pieces of jewelry that don't really take to my fancy, though would probably sell." She let her arm fall to her side, and she deposited the bag in a pocket. "We'll set sail tonight after eating in the town. Let's head back to the ship for now." She gave no reason, though had a reasonable one--changing back into her normal clothes, and tying up her hair. Not only so she appeared different, but because she did not find the dress she was wearing, comfortable at all, and also wanted to get into something less girl-y. Yes, she was perfectly straight, though only wore dresses and the like to deceive men and get their money. Besides, they were most likely awake by now, and even though they were probably too drunk to remember anything that happened, Nira didn't want to take a chance, so a different appearance would be safer. "Come on." She turned and began walking back up towards the beaches.

Kai stretched, though looked vaguely interested in the treasure that was held in Nira's hands. "Aww, nothing real cool? I can't remember the last time we had something... I dunno... Not... plain? But hey, treasure's treasure. Better than nothing." She added the last part in for fear of making Nira angry. She didn't fear Nira like some ((only because she had been part of her crew for so long and had gotten used to her)), but no one wanted to experience her wrath needlessly.
"Anyhow... yeah, I'm coming." She took long elegant steps for the ship, trying to hold her head higher than the broad muscled men that surrounded her. Nira was right; All brawn, no brain. This was displayed by various mistakes in setting up the ship. "Forstay's not loose enough," she said, twanging the forstay with a finger, before continuing berating those around her. "Pull the main sheet tighter, and block it off with a stronger knot." How how she enjoyed the fact that she had gotten to know ships so well; it was extremely satisfying to see they're confused faces.
With a pang of guilt she remembered how when she first started out in this trade, she, too, had that confused look with a higher ranking shipmate told her off for certain things. So she shut her trap for now, but looked almost sadly at the foc's'cle ((place where crew members sleep; in the bow of the boat)). She hated that place. It was easiest to get seasick there, considering it was stuffy from so many people sleeping in it at once. Even 15 was a lot, and enough to make her rather sleep on the deck. She stuffed her hands in her pockets again, leaning against the railing. She was looking forward to eating in the town; often times you could manage to swoo a man enough that he'll agree to pay for your dinner. Then you split before he can say anything when it's so expensive. Basically this meant that they got to eat as much good food as they wanted to without paying. What a deal!

Upon stepping on the deck, Nira had a very bored, vacant expression on her face, lips slanted. She paused for a moment, watching the scene before her, then headed straight towards her quarters. She closed the door behind her and locked it.
About five minutes later, the door knob wiggled, then turned, door pushed open. Nira exited, her clothes completely different than before, and much more comfortable. Like before, she wore the loose white shirt with ruffled cuffs. Her thick black boots were only slightly different than the ones she had before, reaching almost to her knees, covered partially by long pants. a cutlass was sheathed by her left side on a thick belt, hanging eschew, not even looped properly. Above the shirt she wore a sleeveless brown jacket, and along with various other accessories. She didn't bother ordering people around, deciding to let the girl have fun with doing that for now. That, and because the writer knows next to nothing about ships. Slowly, she walked up to the front of the ship, leaning against the wooden railing and gazing lazily out at the ocean.

Kai had, in fact, gone to kneel by the circular opening that was the foc's'cle, and was now snarling at it. "Oh how I hate you." She growled, glaring knives. She stood up before Nira came out and before she could be berated with questions, walking around and checking various areas of the ship such as making sure the sheets ((ropes)) were tight, sails were prepared to be hauled up by said sheets, there were no holes in the boat, etc. etc.
Once Nira came out of her cabin, Kai trotted over, hoping that they could go into town soon. She was starved, and a growl of her stomach told so clearly. "So. Should we go into town soon?" She inquired. "Even though I notice you've dressed out of your... what would you call it..? Formal attire? Sure... Anyhow, I figure we could still manage to get some man or another to buy our food for us. Maybe if we could get him drunk first... that usually works." She tilted her head in thought.
She leaned on the railing, staring out into the ocean. There were clouds in the distance, but she was lucky enough to see that they weren't thunderheads. Or any matter of stormy weather; just clouds and maybe fog, which didn't matter since they sailed with the trade winds anyhow. Not like they could get much anywhere else unless absolutely necessary; they had square sails. Kai had seen sailboats, which could even go upwind without much difficulty, but had harder time going downwind. She had always wanted to sail one of those, but knew it wouldn't last long in the rough ocean. Her thoughts were torn from her when her stomach rumbled again, and her face turned a pale shade of red from embarrassment. Shaddup.
